About The Author

John M. ‘Jack’ Niner was born in Davenport, Iowa almost exactly one year after the start of World War II.   A wartime surprise, his parents were done raising kids long before he arrived.  So Jack became very good at figuring things out on his own.

Jack was mentored at a young age by two of his father’s drinking buddies who had no sons of their own.  Jimmy Litey was a talented construction worker and Ed Wozniak was a machinist with an entrepreneurs mind.  A very odd mix indeed.

At fourteen years of age, Jack was also inspired by a friends father, a part time homebuilder on nights and weekends.  Back then… you did everything yourself, from digging the hole to the finish flooring and painting. The perfect background and knowhow for the remodeling business.

Growing up on the wrong side of the tracks, Jack’s first schoolyard fight was with a guy named Bob.  After high school Bob went on to become a “tin man” (aluminum siding salesman). They had eventually become friends and Jack, attracted to Bob’s newfound “wealth”, accompanied him on a few sales calls.  He learned an invaluable lesson, but only by watching how a buyer is influenced to act, re-act, think, and most importantly, what makes a buyer… buy.

Jack started his own remodeling business after quitting a good paying job as a home improvement manager at Sears (of course within weeks of the birth of his oldest son Marten). Though timing was not his best suit, Jack would not have attained great success without the motivation of the proverbial “axe over his head”. That is what this book is about.  You are being given your own guaranteed axe and being shown where and how to swing it.
